The Capitola Begonia Festival Committee is looking for an extraordinary piece of art, produced by a local artist, to serve as the official poster for the 58th Annual Capitola Begonia Festival. The Festival is to be held Labor Day weekend, September 3rd through 6th. This year’s theme is “Beach Party!” The artwork does not necessarily have to include the theme, but should reflect the community of Capitola and the spirit and flavor of the Begonia Festival.
Interested artists should bring their finished artwork to the Pacific Gallery, located at 321 Capitola Avenue, between between February 23 and February 27. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 To 4:00 PM.
The artist selected as the 2010 poster artist will receive a $500 honorarium for the use of the artwork. The artist will also receive 50 copies of the poster. The image chosen will be used as the poster, handbills, postcards and other merchandise.
All mediums will be considered. The finished poster will measure 18” by 24”. Artwork submitted should be slightly smaller than this size and submitted without lettering. Graphics for the poster will be completed by the Begonia Festival Committee. Both the vertical and horizontal images will be considered.
